About us

As regulators we recognise the advancement of technology and the impact that this has on the delivery and awarding of qualifications. We are committed to e-assessment and our responsibility is to ensure that the integrity, reliability and validity of assessment is upheld and consistent with this, we aim to encourage innovative practice in e-assessment.

The regulators work on e-assessment seeks to ensure that regulatory arrangements encourage innovative methods of assessment without barriers to development. At the same time, assessments must continue to be fair and standards secure so that public confidence is sustained.

As the use of technology for assessment increases, whether it is end- to end solutions or blended learning/ assessment combining electronic and traditional methods, this will have an impact on how regulatory issues are considered.

The Regulatory Principles for e-assessment sit alongside existing regulatory criteria and codes of practice and are designed to facilitate, promote and encourage innovation across the use of e-assessment.

How does the Regulator aim to encourage e-assessment?

We want to ensure that regulation does not impede innovation and that we can modernise the qualification system through the use of technology to maximise the opportunities available to the learner in demonstrating their achievements.

We hope you find e-assessment.org.uk to be a useful resource.
